The topic has been raised more than once about how people often whine about the past, and on the Internet this whining often concerns old games. The theme is eternal and never ends. This time I would like to turn my attention to another area of mass media that has interested us in the past. Let’s talk about animated series.
In retro communities, people often remember not only games, but also films and cartoons that came out in their childhood. Despite the fact that most Russians did not have the Internet in the nineties, we did not experience any particular shortage of media content. Television and VHS tapes instilled in us a love for foreign art. Objects of this art are also often discussed among antique lovers today. Oldfags are ready to give a lot of unnecessary praise to things just because they were there in their childhood. But are these things really so beautiful if you look at them with an adult and experienced eye??
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987 animated series)
Perhaps one of the most popular animated series of those years was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Everyone knows this green four. Everyone watched them, they were played on television and recorded on VHS tapes. It was impossible not to get carried away by this series. But is he really so beautiful?? No. In fact, the series was created only for the purpose of advertising a series of toys. The authors did not make any special efforts to develop the plot. The plot of each episode of this cartoon is stupid and absurd. The behavior of the characters often defies any logic. Watching this today is torture.
But many old-time lovers continue https://gasimocasino.co.uk/mobile-app/ to review this soap. They consider these turtles to be the best in the history of the franchise. How can one come to such a conclusion?? I don’t understand. Apparently they don’t care about the content, all that matters is that this cartoon was in childhood.
Sailor Moon (1992 animated series)
For many Russians, Sailor Suit Wars became the first anime in their lives. Back in 1996, this anime started on channel 2×2 and everyone who had access to this cable channel started watching it. Perhaps, on a positive note, I would like to note that this anime had good depiction of female figures. In the animated series there were scenes of the main characters turning into warriors and it looked quite sexy for those times. Personally, it was after this animated series that I began to pay more attention to drawing women in general. He was very good at conveying to the viewer the beauty of the female body and it wasn’t even vulgar.
The problem with the series was that, apart from the bright image of the characters, there was nothing in it. The plot is primitive and clichéd to the point of disgrace. The series has five seasons, a total of about two hundred episodes and most of the episodes are built on the principle of “one enemy, one battle”. At the end of the seasons, several episodes are usually devoted to the battle with the main villain. There is lore that talks about the lunar kingdom, about how everything there went to one place and kaput came, which is raked already on Earth. Moon Kingdom – seriously? Yes, this is one of those cartoons where the power of love helps you exist in a vacuum without spacesuits. Complete crap. Few people today remember this plot, but almost everyone remembers the images of the main characters of this anime.
Again, among the oldfags there are a lot of those who constantly review this anime and consider it a masterpiece. Where is this a masterpiece?? I agree that the girls there are drawn well, but this soap has no other advantages, it is boring for an adult and does not carry any semantic meaning. Why rewatch this – I don’t understand.
The Disney Afternoon (network of animated series 1990)
However, despite the quality of individual aspects, these animated series also do not stand the test of time. As an adult, watching the adventures of ducks or chipmunks is very boring. Moreover, it is worth mentioning that DuckTales already has a modern TV series, which has a much more interesting plot development. Old cartoons cannot compete with new ones; there is a big difference in the dynamics and presentation of the plot. And old TV series lose by these indicators. I doubt that modern children will watch this for a long time. But this doesn’t stop a crowd of grown-ups from watching these old cartoons, considering Gadget a sex symbol and saying that everything new sucks. Here we are again faced with limited old-fagism that smells of mold.
I don’t want to say that all the cartoons of those years did not stand the test of time. Some have even passed. Spider-Man 1994 is still the best animated series in the universe of this super hero. This also applies to Batman 1992. There were studios that knew how to create cartoons for all ages and for all times, but there were few of them. Basically in the nineties we were fed slag, which today you can’t look at without a facepalm. And it’s very sad that many people elevate this slag to an icon. I must admit that today’s children are luckier, they have more choice in terms of content and many children’s franchises have become more developed in plot, even though the animation has become simpler.
What cartoons do you remember from your childhood?? Have you tried to review them?? What emotions do they evoke in you today?? Have they stood the test of time??
